Beijing Olympics Anyone?

Ok. so the whole day today all I did was to take care of a very special project that concerns one of my devices.

And yes, the project will be launched this 08.08.08. The project is specially made for the Beijing Olympics. And guess what? I am one of the Project coordinators.

Apparently the previous company that was supposed to do the system backed out and so we were the one chosen by our business partner.

How will you do that Bons, it's like less than 10 days away?
- Uh-huh, we already started the development of some parts and I finished the work flowchart just a few minutes ago. Right, that's why I am blogging.

Will you go to Beijing?
- ACS representatives will be able to go. I am not sure if I will be there too. ACS people will be treated as VIPs and will be able to attend all the events that they/we wish to watch. Cool eh?
Do you think you can finish it on time?
- I hope so. But I will be busy as hell for the next days.

Sushal ka na Bons!
- It will all be included the next time I update my resume. And yes, I will be demanding for a bigger salary. But I don't have the right to celebrate yet. I STILL WANT TO SEE RESULTS.

Tin and I are handling this project. We make a good team no?

How was your day?

Men in Skirts

I am just wondering if Filipinos would like to see men in skirts.

What top will they be pairing with?
What shoes are they gonna be wearing?
How long must it be?

As for me. I love the idea. How about you?

Four Giant Panda Cubs Born

The births began Saturday at a breeding center in southwest China

updated 5:19 a.m. ET July 28, 2008

BEIJING - Four giant panda cubs were born within 14 hours at a breeding center in southwest China, a mini baby boom for the rare animals, a state news agency reported Sunday.

The births began Saturday at the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center when 9-year-old Qiyuan, or Magic Luck, gave birth to female twins at 5:24 p.m. and 6:16 p.m., Xinhua News Agency reported, citing center expert Yang Feifei.

Eight-year-old Chenggong, or Success, gave birth to a cub at 7:51 p.m., followed by 8-year-old Zhuzhu, or Pearl, who delivered at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, Yang said.

The center currently has 71 pandas in captivity, Xinhua said.

The giant panda is revered as an unofficial national symbol of China. Only about 1,600 pandas live in the wild, mostly in southwestern Sichuan province, which was hit by an earthquake in May that killed nearly 70,000 people.

China's most famous panda preserve, the Wolong Nature Reserve, was seriously damaged in the quake and forced to relocate most of its pandas. The preserve is at the heart of China's gargantuan effort to use captive breeding and artificial insemination to save the giant panda.

Panda bears are one of my most favorite creatures in the planet. Aren't they the cutest?

May joke ako..

Tanong: Anong ultimate wish ng isang panda?
Sagot: Mapiktyuran ng colored! HAHAHAHA

Pwede na kayo tumawa!

Justice Will Be Served

At least there is justice in this side of the world.

An old friend sent me a personal message this morning. Apparently, he read my entry about Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe's manager. Read here. Seems that he knows the son in law of the owner and my issues will be aired to them. Thank you very much Bryan for being an avid reader of the blog.

Of course you can't read it. I just posted it as a proof that justice will be served.

He told me that he's going to send the link to the owner so they will be informed.

A few hours later, my hits doubled and I had no idea who were viewing my post.

I don't really want to make a big fuzz out of my experience. I don't want the manager to get fired naman or something. I just want them to teach him a lesson and of course send me a LARGE Dark Toblerone Chocolate Torte.

Yun lang.

Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe

Tin decided to celebrate her birthday last rainy Friday evening at Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe in Pasig.

I've been there once and bought Brazo de Mercedez and small slices of brownies and lemon meringue square (I LOVE).

Anywoo, hours before going there, I've double checked the menu so I could already decide which will I be ordering for dinner.

We ordered:

1. Mango Kani Salad (Php 209/ USD 4) - full serving (good for 4 persons)

Chiqui likes this sooo much. I like the Kani and sweet mango strips. However, I did not eat much because it has like loads of mayonnaise on top of it. Y'all know how I hate mayo right.

Verdict 3.5 out of 5 Stars. The lettuce was fresh and the mango was sweet :)

2. Ribeye-Steak served with fries/mashed potato/rice. (Php 285/ USD 4.5)

I like steaks which are cooked medium rare to medium. Well done steaks are not really yummy you know. It gets too hard and you will have the feeling that your tummy will stop digesting it after a few minutes. I like the rib-eye but it's really nothing special compared to Tender Bob's or Outback Steakhouse' rib-eye. The serving is big enough for me to feel so bloated few hours after.

Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars. The taste is a little kulang. I dunno. I like the gravy though.

3. Lasagna (Php 120 / USD 3.5)

Their Lasagna is probably one of the best that I've ever tasted. It was cheesy, hot and scrumptious. It's a must try! It is served with 2 dinner rolls which are equally good.

Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars

4. Dark Toblerone Walnut Torte (Php 485 / USD 10)
for approximately half a gallon.

Their cold desserts are their best sellers. It was sweet, yummy and good. This maybe one of the reasons why I am suffering tonsilitis right now. Ice cream cakes or tortes are my favorite.

Verdict: 5 out of 5 stars

Other yummy treats that you will find here are the following:

Cupcakes (Php 11-24 )

Mini American Apple Pie, Mini Mango Creme Pie and the works (Php 80 / USD 2)

The ambiance was nice. The interiors were very cozy and comfortable. The waiters were kind and friendly. The manager was ANTIPATIKO! I soooo hate him.

Get this, they do not allow reservations. So we just went there and got the table that could seat all 9 of us. Then the manager told us why we were late and that we had to dine fast because there were other reservations for the night. Yadi yada. I looked at the other tables and these were empty. There was no queue outside so I did not get the idea of him rushing us to order and finish fast! Being the antipatika Bons that you know, I retaliated and told him

Bons: "Ganyan talaga kayo kahigpit dito no? and hindi kayo talaga friendly?"
Manager: "Ganon talaga eh".

Fuck him! For the record Mr. Manager, since you have no reservations, it meant that you do a first come first serve protocol. We came in first and just like any other restaurants in the metro, we can stay until dawn if we wanted too. And for crying out loud, we spent almost 500 bucks per head. Didn't we have the right to stay at least for 30 minutes after our meals? After all, there were still available tables and there was no queue outside. Fuck you! By the way, it was my second visit there and I experienced the same hostile treatment from the same manager. Kaya I have all the right to get pissed and retaliate.

Sayang yung food niyo and the reviews that people wrote about your cafe if the manager has issues with people dining in with no carlaloo. Maybe he had a problem because most of us had no car and went there riding a lowly Toyota Corolla Cab. And all the other customers parked their SUVs and sedans in front of the restaurant. Anong akala mo samin, POOR? excuse me ha.

But then again, try to visit the place. You're after the dining experience naman.

Upcoming Trip

Remember a few weeks ago when I was complaining for being so tired and that I wanted to go abroad again just to chillax?

Our lovely boss, Elsie, told Allan, Chie and I that we have to go back to Hongkong and work there for 3 months. Yes, you read it right. Not 2 weeks, not a month, but 3 freaking months.

Not that I don't want to go there ha? It's just that I don't want to celebrate my birthday there for the 2nd consecutive year.

I'm praying that we leave after boyfriend's birthday which is on September 11. We'll stay most probably until 2nd week of December and hopefully before my birthday which is on December 13 (I'll prepare my wishlist na so you could think of what to give me) lol!

What will I do for 90 days in Hongkong?

hmmm...

1.) Visit all the MTR and KCR stops in both HK Island and Kowloon Side. (These are 2 railways that go around HK.)
2.) Shop - Sale season of brands that I like. (H&M , Zara, Mango and WHAT HAVE YOU).
3.) Visit Big Buddha for the first time.
4.) Go to our Shenzen office which is just a train ride away from our flat.
5.) SAVE. I'll bring a piggy bank with me. Yeah right Bons.
6.) Go Nature tripping.
7.) Memorize Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok. (Shopping districts in HK)
8.) Go around Central and try Little Quiapo.
9.) Buy the DKNY Be Delicious that I have been eyeing for months.
10.) Make the trip short so I could come back soon.
11.) WORK my ass off to impress the bosses and to complete a very good resume just in case I resign.

What's so cute about the 3 of us is that we came from the top universities in Pinas.

Chie came from Ateneo, I came from UP and Allan came from DLSU. We are the product marketing team in Manila. =)

What Am I Doing?

It's almost 4 AM and I am still wide awake.

Why?

Simple, because I am sick. I got sick due to the changing weather. I cannot breathe right now. I am afraid to sleep because of my dificulty in breathing. I have running nose, dry cough and high fever. Plus, my throat and tonsils are swollen.

I must rest. I will try though.

Good morning.

Pregnant Man Debuts His Baby

It's been three weeks since his blue-eyed baby debuted in this world, but Thomas Beatie – better known around the world as the Pregnant Man – can already say this about his daughter's personality: "She's easygoing and mellow and intelligent."

On June 29 at 8:55 p.m., Beatie, 34, a former female beauty pageant contestant, made cultural history as perhaps the first legally transgender male to give birth, bringing into the world a 9 lbs., 5 oz. baby girl named Susan Juliette.

"She's so precious, I just can't stop staring at her," Thomas tells PEOPLE in his first interview since he and wife Nancy returned with their bundle from Bend, Oregon's St. Charles Medical Center. "Just holding her is the best feeling in the world."

Susan – named after Thomas's mother and conceived through artificial insemination with donor sperm – arrived after 40 hours of labor, with Nancy at Thomas's side acting as his coach.

"When Susan finally came out, it was like in slow motion," says Thomas. "I was full of wonder." Echoes Nancy: "There were tears of joy."

Both father and daughter came through the birth in perfect health. "I weigh two pounds less than I did before I got pregnant," adds Thomas. "And I don't have a single stretch mark!"

At home, the couple is adjusting to their new nightly schedule: Nancy breastfeeding (by induced lactation, a process using hormones and physical stimulation with a breast pump) and Thomas keeping company while watching TV.

Crows Thomas, "Susan is a miracle! And we're finally the family we've been dreaming of."

You can also watch his interview in Oprah last Summer.

Secret Recipe is LOOOVE

While buying for Tin's gift for her birthday at Shangrila, Chiqui had been bugging me to accompany her and Berenice to try Secret Recipe. This is a newly opened branch located in the 5th floor of Shangrila Mall.

Secret Recipe is well known around Asia with over 150 branches located in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Shanghai - China, Auckland - New Zealand, and of course, Philippines.

They have been awarded several times for serving the most scrumptious range of cheesecakes. Below is the list of their awards.

  • Best Cheesecake Award 1998
  • Most Original Chocolate Award 1999
  • Best Cheesecake Award 2000
  • Best Lamb Stew Award 2001
  • Excellent Food Award 2004 by Asian Trade Press Pte Ltd, Singapore

  • Best Brand Food & Beverage Cafe 2007
  • Best Casual Dining Restaurant of The Year 2007/2008
  • Philippine Tattler's Best Restaurant 2008
Ok. So I gave in to Chiqui's insistent request. And I had to try their food after checking their website that afternoon.

I had Tom Yum Spaghetti - spaghetti in stir-fried "tom yum" minced chicken, chilies and spices. Y'all know how I LOOOVE tomyum and Thai food right? So I really had to taste this.

Tom Yum Spaghetti (Php 180/ USD 4.5)

Verdict: 4 Stars out of 5 It was oh so yummy but it was not spicy enough. I still had to put tabasco.

Chiqui ordered Grilled Black Pepper Chicken - grilled chicken smothered with black pepper sauce served with herb rice and fresh garden salad.I tried a bite of the chicken.

Grilled Black Pepper Chicken (Php 240 / USD 5.5)

Verdict: 4 stars out of 5. The chicken was so tender and the kick of the black pepper is ok.

Berenice had Pumpkin Soup and Black Pepper Lamb Pie. I was not able to taste these though.

Pumpkin Soup (Php 90 / USD 2)

Black Pepper Lamb Pie (Php 135/ USD 3)

We would not leave Secret Recipe without trying their cheesecake. So we ordered one.

Marble Cheesecake (Php 140 / USD 3.5 )

Verdict: 5 STARS out of 6 . It was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever tasted. It was just plain and simple but it was so good. Mapapapikit ka sa sarap.

On People

As much as you wanted your day to START and END right, people will DELIBERATELY ruin it for you.

And what I hate the most is that, it is inevitable that you get affected.
Shame.

Shit happens everyday y'all know.

And so what?

They reported in TV Patrol yata that Richard Gutierrez and KC Concepcion will go to Greece to shoot the kissing scene for their movie "For The First Time". Syempre updated ako no?

Anywoo.

I was pissed because I was waiting for some worthy news like inflation rate of peso, or what happened to that councilor in Manila who had an illegal slaughter house or whatever happened to that sunken ship.

TV Patrol is only a 30-minute show where 10 minutes is allotted for advertisements, 5 minutes is allotted for REAL NEWS and 15 minutes is allotted for Entertainment News.

Kebs ko kung maglaplapan sila ni KC sa Greece. Matatanda na silang dalawa.

And pwede ba, what's so wrong with having kissing scenes sa movies? Are u telling me that Megastar still wants her daughter to portray naive roles. Hello! she stayed and lived alone in France for years. God knows, what you can do when you are living alone in a nice flat in a foreign European country where conservatism is not really an option.

Ring a bell?
Yun lang po.

A Woman

I read this a while ago.

and I think it's true.

"A woman under stress is not immediately concerned with finding solutions to her problems but rather seeks relief by expressing herself and being understood" - Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus by John Gray

Sooo true. Right?

Have a good night
